The SKOG 4 Garden Sauna is a premium 3-4 person barrel sauna designed for Scandinavian-style home wellness. Constructed from durable nordic spruce, this outdoor sauna is ideal for gardens, patios, and terrace spaces. Easily withstands harsh weather with durable build and glass door.

This barrel sauna kit is designed for easy 1-day, 2-person assembly. It comes with complete installation manual in English and 1-year warranty for materials and workmanship. Electic heater and chimney is not included.

Kerbside Delivery Explained

Your sauna will arrive on a large pallet via tail-lift truck. The delivery driver will lower it to the ground at the kerb (kerbside delivery). From there, you can move the individual panels to your site/ home. 

 

Please ensure there is plenty of room for larger trucks to navigate down your road, park outside your property and lower the sauna to ground level meeting the kerb.

 

Most pieces are manageable with one or two people.

Intallation & Electrical Information

Sauna Base

You can either install a base yourself or by a professional following our guide below. A base is required due to the weight of the sauna and avoids your sauna from sinking over time.

Self-assembly instructions will be provided. We highly recommend you hire a professional carpenter and/ or joiner for your flatpack sauna build.

 

Electrical

Domestic sauna heaters in the UK usually require a dedicated single-phase 230V supply, similar to an electric shower or cooker, and installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician. The current draw depends on the heater’s kW rating and can be estimated using watts ÷ volts = amps (for example, 6 kW ≈ 26 A). Smaller heaters around 2–3.6 kW typically need 10–15 A with 1.5–2.5 mm² cable, while larger units from 4.5–9 kW may draw 19–40 A and require 2.5–6 mm² or heavier cabling depending on the run length. FAQ

Does the sauna require professional installation or can I install it myself?

Most of our thermowood saunas are designed for self-assembly and arrive with detailed instructions. Many customers choose to build the sauna themselves or with the help of a general contractor. However, the electrical connection for the sauna heater must be completed by a qualified electrician.

 

Important: Incorrect assembly or not following the manual may void your warranty. If you’re unsure, we recommend professional installation.

Do I need an electrician to install the heater?

Yes. Sauna heaters require a dedicated electrical connection and must be installed by a suitably qualified electrician in accordance with local electrical regulations and the manufacturer’s instructions.

What maintenance is required after assembly?

After assembly, the sauna should be treated both inside and out as soon as possible. This protects the wood and is required to validate your warranty.

 

Painting the sauna bench is optional but recommended. Use a breathable, oil-based treatment such as Tikkurila Supi Sauna Finish.

Can these outdoor saunas be outdoors all year round in colder weather?

Yes. Thermowood is specifically designed for outdoor use and performs very well in changing weather conditions. Proper installation, ventilation, and routine maintenance will help maximise the lifespan of the sauna.

Does thermowood require treatment? 

Thermowood is naturally durable and more stable than untreated timber. Exterior surfaces can be treated periodically to maintain the desired appearance, especially if you wish to reduce natural weathering or colour fading over time.

Can I paint the sauna a different colour?

Yes. You can paint your sauna any colour, as long as you use a breathable wood treatment.

How long does it take to heat a sauna?

Most saunas typically reach operating temperature within approximately 20-30 minutes depending on the heater size, outdoor temperature, insulation, and desired heat level.

What base or surface does the sauna need to sit on? 

The sauna should be installed on a stable, level, and well-drained base such as concrete, paving slabs, decking, or another suitable structural surface capable of supporting the weight of the sauna.

How is the sauna delivered?

Saunas are delivered via kerbside freight delivery in flat-pack form for assembly on site. Before ordering, customers should ensure there is suitable access for delivery vehicles and sufficient space to move the packaged components to the installation location.

What are the running costs?

A traditional home sauna usually uses a 3 to 9 kW electric heater and costs around £0.10 to £0.30 per kWh in the UK. This means running costs range from about £0.30 per hour for a 3 kW heater to £0.90 per hour for a 9 kW heater. Preheating typically takes 30 to 45 minutes, which adds to the overall cost depending on how often and how long the sauna is used.
